Vue disadvantages:

React

React offers comfortable and functional component creation and promotes its use to maintain elegant API code. The framework is trendy, especially in various startups. With a large selection of readily available open-source plugins and extensions, almost any type of website can be developed. Component templates are built using JSX. It may be a little different from what you are used to.

Having a large selection of extensions is excellent, but it can be quite confusing for beginner developers.

React features:

  3. productive (thanks to React Virtual DOM);

  4. server rendering;

  5. the presence of Redux;

  6. PWA support;

  7. JSX.

React disadvantages:

  1. Using templates interspersed with JSX may seem odd to a beginner.

  2. It may not be quite a drawback, but the non-straightness of the choice of project development stages is usually resolved only by experienced managers.

Angular

Angular provides more out of the box, including a better CLI than React or Vue, making it easier to build reliable solutions. Angular is popular in the enterprise environment, where it has a broad audience. The code is somewhat oversaturated and complex compared to other frameworks, but this is a matter of habit.

Angular features:

  2. native;

  3. complicated;

  4. used with Typescript;

  5. smart autocomplete HTML component;

  6. architecture is designed for large projects;

  7. MVVM model.

Angular disadvantages:

Angular vs. React vs. Vue: Comparison

1. Rendering

Javascript frameworks are primarily worth comparing in terms of page rendering. The modern architecture allows two types: on the client-side (the page is rendered using the power of the user's PC) or on the server-side.

DOM - Document Object Model - document object model that allows you to read and change the content, design, and even the structure of HTML documents. Each of the frameworks approaches DOM processing differently, which affects the rendering of the final page displayed on the user's screen.

Vue.js and React create a copy of the DOM, process it, and then the result is compared to the original version. In the final document (that is, on the user's screen), only those parts of the page that differ from the processing results are replaced.

It dramatically speeds up page loading and rendering. Accordingly, the volume of traffic is reduced, which is especially important for users of mobile devices.

The approach to DOM processing by the Angular 1.x and higher framework is fundamentally different. Here there is a division into two threads, and the browser (client part) is "responsible" for rendering the DOM. The general line (server part) is responsible for creating directives, loading code, and services.

But that doesn't mean rendering is client-side at all - the servers still do the rendering. Hence, SEO optimization will not be complicated. Search robots will be provided with the correct page when indexing.

2. Component architecture

React is not a pure framework. It is a kind of modified library, "sharpened" for MVC (Model-View-Controller, where the Model is responsible for providing data, the View - displays the data of the Model to the user, and the Controller interprets the user's actions and forces the Model to make changes).

Angular and Vue.js belong to the frameworks themselves.

If the architecture of the project is based on React, then this predetermines:

  1. the need to search and implement additional libraries for the implementation of each of the tasks;

  2. setting up the functional part of the app for a specific library;

  3. the difficulty of involving other developers in the project due to the difference in each app’s library stack.

Therefore, it will take longer to implement the architecture. A low-level API (Application Programming Interface - a set of ready-made commands, more about what an API is) requires too much configuration.

In the case of using ready-made frameworks - Vue.js and Angular, problems with the selection or configuration of libraries for different tasks no longer arise. The high-level API provides backward compatibility for all libraries.

It will allow a third-party programmer to connect to the project without a comprehensive study of the application architecture. It is in the unification of processes that the popularity of full-fledged frameworks lies.

3. Targeting and dependency classes

React, and Vue.js only support one-way data transfers. At the same time, objects are encapsulated in React. In simple terms, each of the application objects refers to final procedures that do not require user action until the end of the work.

However, React does support copying and passing state. The properties of the registered objects can be restored on another device if the application is launched, and the state of the components is reported. Therefore, the rendering will be identical; both devices’ screens will have the same "picture.”

The Vue.js framework works a little differently. JS is still one-way, but the components work with templates, and the output is pure HTML. There is JSX support, which makes it easy to migrate from React and similar libraries.

For the framework, the logic of processes is automated due to the construction of directives. It is enough to add the required notice to get additional functionality. For example, you need to make a block element floatable on the page. For implementation, it is enough to add the "draggable" directive to the object properties, after which it can be dragged with the mouse across the screen.

The Angular framework is somewhat different in the logic of the process. Yes, there is everything characteristic of Vue.js, but the description of objects’ interaction occurs in services that are constituent parts of modules.

A modular architecture is more convenient for developing large applications. The module is created to solve several tasks with similar functionality. Consequently, the final code size becomes smaller, and the processing speed is higher.

MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) support allows for solving different tasks in one section of the application using one data set. Functional dependency determines the two-way direction of data transmission. Each procedure can start a different process.

4. Backward compatibility

For an application developer, it is essential to update the architecture to include new modules and libraries.

Angular

Complete framework. Absolute dependence on previous versions and components. Direct migration from 4.0 to 5.0 is not possible. You will have to install all updates between versions consistently. It will unnecessarily increase the size of the application. By the way, an exciting fact, Angular version 3.0, does not exist after the 2nd version comes the 4th immediately.

React

Library. Full compatibility between versions. It is possible to connect libraries of different versions to the application and update outdated ones with the inheritance properties.

Vue

Progressive framework (as stated by Vue.js lead developer Evan Yu). The modular system is similar to React but includes all the JS framework attributes, working with full backward compatibility.

5. Documentation and community

When choosing a particular one, it is essential to pay attention to the programming community’s support.

The more complex the project, the more often the developer turns to the technical documentation of the chosen environment and the community for advice. Therefore, it is worth comparing the support of each JS framework.

React

The technical support of the React environment is quite difficult. On the one hand, the community comprises thousands of programmers in different countries, where you can get help in any language.

However, open-source and the daily appearance of new React-based libraries are flaws in the framework. It is difficult to find documentation that exhaustively describes the application processes, functions, and properties of a particular freshly released library.

New modules often appear in this way: the programmer creates a library for solving some problems in his project. Then he writes a quick guide and puts it on the Internet.

Vue

The main advantage of Vue is the availability of detailed documentation for the framework. However, most of the "manuals" do not have a standard translation into English or Russian.

The user community, despite the incredible popularity of Vue.js on Habr or Github, is relatively modest, especially compared to Angular or React. Many more developers use even JQuery than Vue.js.

As a rule, the answer to the question about implementing the task is expected for several days. And it's not a fact that someone will be able to answer.

Angular

Unlike Vue.js and React, detailed documentation has been written for the framework, but many guidelines have also been released. Therefore, you do not have to resort to the help of the community to find answers.

The number of programmers using the framework is in the hundreds of thousands. The developer can ask a question from the "Howto" category at any time. To do this, you do not have to look for the official website of the project. You can ask for help on StackOverflow, toaster, and other question-and-answer sites.

The results show that React is the favorite among developers, followed by Vue, and Angular seems to be losing popularity over the past years. If you type in Google Trends, you can also see that React is the most popular library.

Vue is the most recent addition to the web framework family, and it seems like a lot of people like it. But there are many React and Angular jobs out there today compared to Vue jobs on the market. It is also because both Angular and React have been around for longer. Many companies have implemented these technologies, which has created many jobs in the market.
